Artist in residence at Dyson Gymnastics Club

IN THIS PLACE... presented new artwork created by artists and residents celebrating the Clarendon area of Hove. Through residencies and workshops, the project created opportunities to share experiences, make new connections and explore what this community means to the people that live here.

Commissioned through open call, artist Sara Hibbert immersed herself in this family run gymnastics club, observing their amazing talent, energy and dedication. Inviting coaches to re-stage their support gestures, Sara overlaid these abstractions with drawings created by gymnasts in response to the prompt: 'draw a skill as a continuous line'.

The work was installed large-scale in the windows of the Hove Gardens building on Conway Street, as well as on Dyson Gymnastics Club's entry gates.
